TID was involved and is currently involved in some EU-IST projects: SMEPP – Secure Middleware for Embedded P2P Systems(IST-33563) (STRP project) SMEPP produces a generic middleware for embedded peer to peer systems that will implement new security primitives for the specific attacks in this type of systems. A new specific interaction model specific for peer to peer interactions is defined. The middleware implements the necessary services to support this interaction model. Together with the middleware infrastructure, customizable a component framework is developed. This framework provides the tools necessary to adapt the middleware infrastructure to different embedded devices and networks. Two validation applications are being developed: environmental monitoring of industrial plants and in mobile telephony and context aware computing. HOMETALK – A Voice Enabled Residential Automation & Networking platform (IST-2001-33507) HomeTalk creates a truly intelligent user-friendly residential environment, connected to a broadband network, equipped with advanced domestic appliances, controlled via powerline by a multifunctional residential gateway/controller and capable of communicating with the residents via natural voice interface(recognition and synthesis). A vertical Service Creation architectural framework will make many available media and networks convergence to nurture advanced services for the Residents. HomeTalk develops an innovative, distributed Communication & Control platform for the future home, creates awareness and contributes to Standards and Special Interest Groups related to Service Convergence and Interoperability, Broadband Access and Home Networking. Through an Open Source development initiative, it will integrate results with OSGI, VoiceXML and Powerline efforts to catalyze international adoption. HYDRA – Middleware for Networked Devices (IST-2005-034891) (IP project) The Hydra project develops middleware for networked embedded systems that allows developers to create ambient intelligence applications. System developers are thus provided with tools for easily and securely integrating heterogeneous physical devices into interoperable distributed systems. AMIGO – Ambient intelligence for the networked home environment (IST-004182) (IP project). AMIGO aims at design an interoperable middleware for a networked home environment which embraces current CE, PC, mobile and home automation domains. It guarantees interoperability within this home system between services even with the use of heterogeneous networking and diverse devices. It guarantees automatic dynamic configuration of the networked home system. EPerSpace – Towards the era of personal services at home and everywhere (IST-506775) (IP project). ePerSpace project aimed at significantly increasing the user acceptance of networked audiovisual systems at home and anywhere. It developed value-added personalised networked services for the Home user (in and out the Home) and solved some interoperability problems in personalisation data exchange, service and context adaptation, management of service platforms. MUSIC – Self-Adapting Applications for Mobile Users in Ubiquitous Computing Environments (IST-035166) (IP project). MUSIC is a focused initiative that will develop a comprehensive open-source software development framework that facilitates the development of self-adapting, reconfigurable software that seamlessly adapts to the highly dynamic user and execution context, and maintains a high level usefulness across context changes. Context-aware applications are capable of exploiting knowledge of external operating conditions, and they are self-adaptive if they adapt at runtime to varying contexts, like changing user needs and operating environments. EnComPAs – Enabling Community Communications-Platforms and Applications (CELTIC project). Initiative to speed up the deployment of new networked products and advanced applications or services at home through the residential gateway and home management platform. |
